A steeply sloped new-build plot was transformed into a multi-level garden sanctuary offering the perfect opportunity to incorporate a water feature bringing both tranquillity and ecological value. The water invites frogs, dragonflies and birds turning the garden into a thriving habitat.

With clever planting and thoughtful design, the interplay of water, stone, and greenery transforms the once-plain slope into a vibrant haven for people and wildlife alike.

A stunning new garden project turning a previously plain and steeply sloped new-build plot into a vibrant, multi-level sanctuary for both people and wildlife.

🌟Client’s brief: to create a space that would be visually appealing, ecologically rich, and welcoming to a variety of species.

🧱 Structural Redesign

To address the challenging gradient, the garden was tiered using Marshalite walling stone, creating two distinct levels:

Upper tier: A spacious lawn bordered by herbaceous planting and a sleek porcelain patio, ideal for entertaining and relaxation.
Lower tier: A more naturalistic wildlife zone designed to encourage biodiversity and offer tranquil retreat.

🌸 Planting & Wildlife Features

The lower section of the garden has been thoughtfully designed to support local wildlife:

A wildlife pond planted with marginals and surrounded by low-growing shrubs, herbs, and prairie grasses.
A charming arbour seating area set atop a natural Indian stone patio, offering a peaceful vantage point to enjoy the garden’s ecosystem.
A selection of mature trees strategically planted to provide future privacy, shade, and habitat for birds and insects.

💡 Finishing Touches

Lighting enhances the garden’s ambiance and usability after dusk, while remaining sensitive to wildlife.
